      The funeral service for Wesley “Papa” Long, age 82, will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Ron Olson and Rev. Max Colaw officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson –Burris Funeral Home. 

     He was born to Andrew Jackson and Ruby Ellen (Haskett) Long on March 12, 1926 in Picher, OK, and died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid.

 Wesley grew up in Enid, and then served in the United States Army during World War II.  He married Golda Merritt, and they made their home in Enid, where he worked at the Fluman Body Shop for a short time.  He then worked at the Champlin Refinery until his retirement.  He was a member of Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church., VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, and Senior Life Network.

 He is survived by two sons, Terry Long and wife Kathy of Enid, and Doug Long of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Golda Long, Jason Long and wife Kimbri, and Logan Long; and two sisters Billie Robison of Enid, and Janette Bolene of Stillwater.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wife Golda and several brothers and sisters. 

      Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.
