Thelma Lou Sheffer
White was born in
Hunter, OK on Sept. 26,
1919. She was preceded
in death by her parents,
Lewis Thurman and Maude
(Brower) Sheffer.
During Lou’s youth
her parents moved the
family to Garber, OK
address west of
Billings, which is the
present family farm.
During World War
II Lou became an
aircraft mechanic at
MacDonald Douglas to
support the war effort.
Due to her physical
strength and dedication
she was entrusted with
the final work on the
B-24 and B-26 aircraft.
Lou had a passion for
her work. It was at
work where she met her
husband, William A.
White. They were
married Dec. 2, 1944, a
marriage they shared for
64 years.
When World War II
ended, Lou and Bill
returned to Lou’s family
farm. She became a farm
wife, mother and
caretaker of her
parents. Their children
are Linda Wadsworth and
husband Prescott of
Whidbey Island, WA,
Donna Lander and husband
Roger of Pembroke Pines,
FL, Bill White and wife
Marilyn, residing in
Garber. There are three
grandchildren, Meredith
Lander, Wesley and
Alisha White, and great
grandson William A.
White. She is also
survived by her brother
John Sheffer and wife
Lavelle of Garber.
She was preceded
in death by her husband
William on 8/19/08, and
brothers Alvin and Gene
Sheffer.
Lou was an active
member of Hunter
Christian Church, with
her friendly smile and
joyous persona. She
loved being of service
to all. She was an
inspiration to her
family. She suffered
from Alzheimer’s and
other painful
infirmities. She
surrendered her life to
the Lord July 27, 2009.
The celebration of
her life will be at
10:00 A.M. Saturday,
Aug. 1, 2009, at Hunter
Christian Church, with
Rev. Don Johnson
officiating. The family
will receive friends
beginning at 9:00 A.M.
at the church. Burial
will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home
to Hunter Christian
Church.
