William Alexander White
was born in Charity, MO
on Sept. 24, 1919. He
was preceded in death by
his parents, Heber
Denene White and Ruby
Elisabeth White
Hutchinson.
He spent his
formative years in
Cushing, OK and
graduated from Cushing
High School. He
attended Oklahoma A &
M. During World War II,
Bill worked for Spartan
Aircraft Co. In 1940 he
was employed by army
procurement to Wright
Field and became a
flight inspector for the
Air Force Midwestern
Division. He conducted
aerial gunfire tests and
bomb dropping at Douglas
Aircraft Co. in Tulsa.
There he met Thelma Lou
Sheffer. They married
December 2, 1944. They
settled on her family
farm in Garber-Billings
area after World War
II. He farmed there
sixty years and raised
cattle and wheat. Their
children are Linda
Wadsworth and husband
Prescott of Whidbey
Island, WA; Donna Lander
and husband Roger of
Pembroke Pines, FL; Bill
White and wife Marilyn,
residing in Garber.
There are three
grandchildren, Meredith
Lander, Wesley and
Alisha White.
Bill served as
board member of Farmers
Home Administration,
Enid. He worked many
years for U.S.
Agriculture
Stabilization Service.
He is a member of Hunter
Christian Church, where
he was an elder for
fifty years.
After proactively
battling multiple
ailments for numerous
years, he succumbed to
heaven on August 19,
2008.
The celebration of
his life will be held
Saturday August 23,
10:00 A.M. at Hunter
Christian Church, with
Rev. Don Johnson
officiating. Burial
will follow in Memorial
Park Cemetery, with
arrangements by
Anderson-Burris Funeral
Home.
