Herbert Lee Bradden, Sr.

Funeral services for Herbert L. Bradden, Sr, 68, Enid, will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Westside Church of God In Christ with Superintendent D.L. Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by Ft. Sill Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Herbert Bradden, Sr. was born November 24, 1944 in Marshall, Texas to Prestee Bradden Sr. and Lucy Ann Osborne Bradden and died on August 30, 2013 in Enid, Oklahoma. At an early age the family moved to Enid, and he attended Enid Public Schools, and played football at Enid High School. Herbert graduated from Enid High School in 1964. He married Audrey Borden and to this union one daughter, Tonya Bradden was born. Herbert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and was discharged February 1969. He later married Vera Keel, and to this union, Herbert L. Bradden, Jr. and Contessa Bradden were born. Herb enlisted into the Army Reserves from 1970 until 1976, retiring as an E-5. He was a hard working man, working many jobs. Herb retired from ADM Mills and Dyncorp (VAFB) then went back to work for the board of education. He was working at Emerson Middle School at the time of his death. Herb never met a stranger. He was instrumental in organizing the Superbowl Brothers, and was the past president. He was preceded in death by his father, Prestee Bradden, Sr.; step-father, Raymond Owens; sister, Nell Williams; brothers, Oscar Bradden and Prestee Bradden, Jr.; grandson, Herbert L. Bradden, Jr II; and his grandparents. Herb leaves to cherish his memory, his spouse, Vera; daughters, Tonya (Robert) Norwood, Enid, Contessa (Terrence) Holmes, Jacksonville, FL; sons, H.L. Bradden Jr, Oklahoma City, Antjuan Keel, Las Vegas, NV, Nathaniel Cotton, Oklahoma City, Jermaine Ryder, North Carolina; his mother, Lucy Bradden-Owens, Enid; sisters, Beverly Ann Bradden, Dallas, Debra Leah Owens, Enid; brothers, Fred (Doris) Bradden, Quilan, TX, Danny Bradden, Ft Worth, TX, Michael Bradden and Ray Bradden, both of Dallas; 14 grandchildren, one great grandson, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives friends and his two canines Stump and Chopper. Memorials may be made to Booker T. Washington/Carver Alumni
