William Robert Hail

Funeral services for William “Bill” Hail, 77 of Hennessey, will be Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church, Hennessey, with Reverend Ish Engle officiating. Burial will follow in Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid. William Robert Hail, Sr., Cotton, Bill, Papa, had many nick names, some more appropriate than others. He was born on October 6, 1942 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to JD and Bertha (Boatman) Hail. Bill graduated from Varnum High School where he played baseball and basketball. He continued his education at Seminole Junior College. On January 30, 1962 he married his beautiful bride Marilyn Kay Lightfoot. That’s 58 years!! The year after their wedding, they moved to California. Bill worked several jobs. He also owned a few convenience stores in California and Las Vegas. Bill and Marilyn moved to Hennessey in 1998 and began their successful rental home business. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He had a deep respect for nature and honored the gifts of the Earth. He loved hunting and fishing. As well as golfing and pitching horseshoes. His appreciation for nature was rewarded by a flourishing garden every year. Bill was also a gifted musician and song writer. He could strum the guitar and whip out a song in no time flat. His talent gave him an opportunity in Nashville to have his music recorded and played on the radio. The family hopes that he is remembered most for how dearly he loved his family; his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brothers, sister and his wife. On July 1, 2020 Bill passed away in Lindsay, Oklahoma. His is preceded in death by his daddy and momma, his sister Wilma, his brother Wilburn, his son William Jr, and his grandson William III. Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; daughters, Rhonda Hail of Hennessey, Sherri and husband, Steve Lee of Enid; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brothers and their wives, Willis and Betty Hail, Willie and Wanda Hail, Willard and Caroline Hail; sister Wilberta McDuffie; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His memory is in our minds and the love he instilled and showed us is in our hearts.
