October 18, 1947 - July 1, 2021
On Thursday, July 1st, Marvin Leon Batterman, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 73. Marvin was born on October 18, 1947, in Syracuse, Kansas to Marion & Delcea (Hart) Batterman. He attended THE Oklahoma State University until he left to serve his country in the Vietnam War. On June 7th, 1969, he married Cheryl Hobbs. Together they raised two children, Heidi & Barry. Later in life. Marvin received the cherished title of “Grandpa”. He never missed a moment to spend time with his Grandkids. He took them golfing & fishing and entertained them with piano sings along. He showed the patience of Jobe when teaching them something new and beamed with pride when they figured it out. Marvin was a spirited child and took his strong will and feistiness into his adulthood. He loved to make people laugh and was always often the “cruise director” for family activities. His faith was of utmost importance to him. He devoted decades to his church as the church treasurer, & pianist, and service on the board. Marvin was very active. For years, he played noon basketball at the YMCA, before transitioning to racquetball and most recently, pickle ball. He enjoyed hunting & golf but was most passionate about fishing. He knows Oklahoma lakes like the back of his hand. Nearly every weekend was spent at a lake destination with his family & friends. He had perfected the art of frying fish and LOVED to invite people over for a fish fry and lots of laughs! As all his friends know, Marvin passionately supported his alma mater of Oklahoma State University. He had all the good football games recorded and would watch them often. Marvin truly enjoyed life and brought his infectious smile everywhere he went. He believed that in exchange for having such a blessed life, we should give back, and in giving back, he is leaving a ripple with a far-reaching impact that we may never know. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marion & Delcea Batterman and his brother- in- law, Chuck Crites. He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Cheryl Batterman; his children Heidi Fisher and husband Eric Fisher; Barry Batterman & wife Tara; his grandchildren, Park Cameron, Scott, Reid & Knox Fisher, Blake & Steven Batterman, Hollyann Anson, and great granddaughter Brinlee Anson; two sisters, Eileen Crites and Glenda Martel, and very dear friend Ruben Daniels. He made countless friends through his activities and believed that these friendships were some of life’s greatest blessings. With pistols firing, the Chartruse Moose is signing out. Celebration of Life Service for Marvin Batterman will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:00 am in Enid First Assembly of God Church with Pastors Dan Barrick and Bradley Barrick officiating.
