Linda Carroll Duncan

Linda Carroll Nance Duncan was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 17th, 1940. She was the elder daughter of Ralph Leland Nance, Jr. and Pauline Adella Killough Nance. Linda was a graduate of Northwest Classen High School, Class of 1958. She served as the Chairman of the Reunion Committee for many years and took great delight in helping to organize frequent reunions with her classmates. Linda attended the University of Oklahoma for two years where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Crockett Duncan, Jr. in 1961. They were married over fifty-one years until his death in September 2013. She and Paul had two daughters, Deborah Carroll Duncan May and Phyllis Gail Duncan Lower. Linda and Paul highly valued education for their daughters and Linda worked outside the home most of her adult life to help pay for the girls’ educations. Linda was an Administrative Assistant who worked in a number of settings including the State of Oklahoma and HTB, Inc. architectural firm. She retired from MidFirst Bank several years ago to spend time with Paul. Linda was an avid music lover. She participated in the choir at her church and was also a long-time member of Canterbury Choral Society where she was section leader for the second sopranos. Linda loved listening to music and supporting the arts and music in her community. Linda and Paul especially enjoyed entertaining. Paul’s big party was the OU Football Brunch. Linda’s big party was at Christmas beginning with the Children’s Cookie party when her daughters were young. The Cookie Party evolved into The Caroling Party where guests would come for pot luck food, hot cider and the opportunity to sing traditional carols to the Cleveland neighborhood. Decorating her home for Christmas was a special delight to Linda and she was regarded by many as The Christmas Queen. Linda was preceded in death by her older brother Leland “Deedee” Nance, her parents, and her husband Paul. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Deborah C. May & husband John C. H. May of Waukomis, OK, daughter Phyllis G. Lower and husband Douglas Lower of Yukon, OK, sister Paula Gentile and husband Jim Gentile of Edmond, OK, and nephews Bo Gentile and wife Mindy of McKinney, TX and Tony Gentile and wife April of Edmond, OK, and many great-nephews and cousins. Dr. Robyn Goggs will officiate a Memorial Service on Friday, February 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City, OK 73142, with a brief reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent in Linda’s name to the Music Department, Northwest Classen High School or to Canterbury Choral Society. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid, OK.
